The girls showing off their sprinting prowess.

The 3rd Annual Haig Glacier Disc Golf Championship went off without a hitch. Drew Goldsack claimed top spot, defeating two-time defending champion Chris Butler, and Bob Thompson (left) and Coach Lite (other side).

Enjoying some on-the-go hydration, while doing my version of blue steal?
Of course, on our arrival back to Canmore a week later, the weather took a turn for the worse, and thoughts of swimsuit season diminished. As a last ditch effort to save summer for myself and the team, we packed our bags and headed out to Whistler for ten days of training and hanging. This marked the second time I've been to Whistler during the summer, and it's still business as usual at the mountain town. There was plenty of summer to go around here while we cranked off some high volume, high intensity training.

This is from our sprint race we did on the Callaghan Nordic paved trails. As you can notice, I was able to take photos because I wasn't in this A-Final. Here is G-Nish leading it into the final stretch, with a banner overhead with our relative location, and relative date.

Core session with the guys.

Our final day in Whistler consisted of a 150km ride to Lillouet B.C. Here's Butler and Pate showing off some high moral.

I think Nish is licking his lips.

We disobeyed this sign. For the entire ride, we managed to average 32km/h, which included riding up Duffy Lake Road.
In addition to Whistler providing some of the best summer training to date, the team had the privilege to work with Peter Larsson; an accomplished Swedish World Cup sprinter with an even more impressive Wikipedia page. Peter's unique and humorous Euro personality along with his vast skiing experience was a huge asset to the entire team and myself during his stay. And even though he told me to "Suck on that for a little while" after giving me some classic technique, his English isn't that bad either.

Thumbs up from Peter, he obviously enjoys our Canadian beer. (BTW I do not endorse the consumption of alcoholic beverages, as I am drinking a diet coke)
What's up now? September seems to be the month of intensity sessions, and nearing the end of the month I will be heading back up to the Haig Glacier for my final pre-season skiing before winter hits. As I look out my window as I type that, I don't think it's too far away.
Until then,
Kevin
