Finishing 5th (and only ~15 seconds from a medal) in Thursday's skate race still hasn't really sunk in yet. I was walking into the race with a Top-10 goal for that day, but I never really expected to be so close to the podium. With a conservative start to the race, I was skiing comfortably in 6th for the first lap and was able to gradually push the speed. I crossed the line in 3rd with only 13 skiers still to finish. After all was said and done, a Norwegian and Russian moved in front of me, leaving me with a 5th place, 39 seconds off the leader.

Best way to recover after a race? A 30 minute "massage" with the Normatec, or Norm for short.

So how do you get pumped up for a 30km after the Russian's dominated the 15km? Rocky IV of course. I was able to get a few pointers from Balboa...
I now have a short break after Thursday's skate race, as I sat out the sprint race to focus purely on Monday's pursuit. I'm happy to say though that Canada's momentum was kept alive with Jess Cockney's awesome race to the A-Final in Saturday's sprint. Despite him qualifying 30th, I knew there was no other skier that can ski the rounds as well as Jess. It was an awesome day for Canada, with Jess finishing 6th, Len Valjas 7th, and Alysson Marshall 12th.

Now it's down to the final race, tomorrow's 30km pursuit. This was the race I was really looking forward to before coming to Europe, so I'm hoping for another strong results. (If anyone wants to wake up around 5am or 6am MST, the race can be watched live here and live results here)
Go Canada!
